INGEMA
INGEMA (Matia Gerontological Institute Foundation) arises from Matia Foundation (an organization dedicated to offer social and health assistance to elderly and people with disability). Ingema’s objective is to generate, develop and disseminate the knowledge related to the needs of elderly and people with disability, as well as their relatives.
Ingema Foundation activity is mainly focused on:
- Research and development of knowledge that makes the basis for the development of technologies tat help to reach the planned aims.
- Stting up and homologation of technological developments in real environments, supported by Matia Foundation services (day care centres, nursing homes, outpatient services…).
- Dissemination of the generated knowledge and experience.
Ingema Foundation research lines are:
- Promotion of an active aging and prevention of dependency. Improving basic knowledge and applied mechanisms related to the prevention of how to achieve successful aging from an interdisciplinary point of view.
- Rehabilitation and compensation of frailty and dependency. Study of the transitions between autonomy-frailty-dependency. We consider that neither disability, dependency nor frailty are irreversible. Our aim is to discover how different variables implied in these processes interact in order to achieve their modification, compensation or rehabilitation.
- Gerontechnology: Research and development of technology and its related products in order to improve the quality of life of people.
- Quality of life and quality of attention: Increase theknowledge of subjective aspects of people’s life (quality of life), in order to know and apply them to the attention (quality of attention).
