Next Generation Production systems

Objetive

With 25 partners, 80 institutions involved, a team of 60 and a budget of 24 M¤, the NEXT project, led by Fatronik, has taken shape as the biggest initiative ever undergone in Europe in the production systems area.

It intends to determine the machines of the future and the sector´s new business models that signify an important technological, industrial and social advance in Europe, so contributing to the transformation the manufacturing industry is demanding faced with the new challenges that arise: delocalization, low manufacturing costs in emerging economies…

Technological innovation

NEXT´s activity is centred on the following areas:

Ecological machine

To eliminate or drastically reduce the impact that machines produce in the environment throughout their life cycle.

User-centred autonomous machine

To lay the foundations of a new generation of autonomous, user friendly machines that supply a more efficient and comfortable way of working for production equipment users.

Manufacturing advances

To design and construct the best process control productive machines, as regards results, productivity and quality.

New business models

To establish new forms of doing business in the production machinery sector, defining new models to sell products and services.

New training and dissemination methods

To attract and train personnel from the academic and professional world in new technologies that have emerged from the research developed in NEXT.

Industrial application

The results that are expected to be obtained are:

Adoption of ecological practices in the design, manufacture, use and elimination of production equipment.
Quality of life, work conditions, safety and health the production equipment users.
Competitiveness for the European manufacturing industry, new business models.
